Joint Trades G Fee Letter to Congressional Leadership

Issue Date: March 06, 2020

On March 6, NAR as part of a coalintion of industry organizations sent a letter to House and Senate leadership. The letter requests that Congress refrains from utilizing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guarantee fees (“g-fees”) as a source of funding offsets. The signatories whose institutions span the entire housing finance ecosystem, firmly believe that g-fees should only be used as originally intended: as a critical risk management tool to protect against potential mortgage credit losses.
