NAR letter to DOJ on AHP Litigation

Issue Date: May 01, 2019

On May 1, NAR sent a letter to U.S. Department of Justice Attorney General, William Barr. The letter supports a full appeal of D.C.'s U.S. District Court ruling that struck down the Department of Labor's final rule clarifying, for purposes of establishing an Association Health Plan (AHP), the definition of “employer” under Section 3(5) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). The Department of Labor’s efforts to expand health insurance options for more Americans has been greatly welcomed, with over a thousand real estate professionals and their families enrolled in new group health plans. NAR encourages the Department of Justice to pursue proper legal action and defend the ability of REALTORS® across the country to have the freedom and flexibility to choose a health insurance plan that best fits their needs.
