Coalition to Protect and Promote AHPs - Statement for the Record - House Ways & Means Committee

As part of a broad coalition, NAR submitted a statement for the record during a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on pre-existing conditions. The statement sorts out the myths vs. facts about Association Health Plans (AHPs), which are large group plans that are subject to most of the consumer protections of other group plans under the Affordable Care Act. By law, AHPs cannot exclude participants based on health status including any pre-existing conditions; on the other hand, AHPs generally offer more comprehensive health coverage at lower cost than the small group and individual health insurance markets.
