NAR Coalition Letter to U.S. Geological Survey Director, James F. Reilly Supporting 3DEP

On June 20, 2018, NAR co-signed a flood map coalition letter to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The USGS is the lead agency involved in collecting high resolution (“LiDAR”) data that FEMA uses to improve mapping accuracy. The letter explains the importance of the LiDAR data to flood mapping and many other purposes. In addition, the letter asks the new director to prioritize the 3D elevation program (3DEP) that coordinates amd contracts for the collection of the LIDAR data.
