On March 7, 2018 NAR sent a letter to the Secretary of Labor, Mr. Alexander Acosta. The letter supports the Department of Labor’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) clarifying the definition of “employer” under Section 3(5) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) for purposes of establishing an Association Health Plan (AHP). The Department of Labor’s (the Department’s) efforts to expand health insurance options for more Americans is greatly welcomed, especially by real estate professionals that do not typically have access to employer provided coverage.
