ADA Reform Bill Coalition Letter

Issue Date: January 24, 2017

On January 24, 2017, NAR joined a coalition of commercial real estate trade groups in sending a letter thanking Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) for introducing H.R. 620, the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017.  This bill would curb the practice of what is commonly referred to as "drive-by lawsuits," wherein attorneys file suits against businesses for small, easily curable infractions of the Americans with Disabilities Act.  H.R. 620 would add a notice-and-cure period to Title III of the ADA, therefore allowing businesses to put their resources toward quickly fixing the issue instead of legal fees.
